Our Origins

Cambridge & District Youth for Christ was founded in 2001 with the aim of “seeing young peoples lives changed by Jesus”. We’re an independent local charity, here to mobilise the local church into effective youth ministry.

Our Network

We’re one of over 70 chartered centres of British Youth for Christ, operating in towns and cities across the UK. Our head office (in Halesowen, West Midlands) provides support staff, national mission teams and more to help us in our work. Youth for Christ was launched in Britain in 1946 by the evangelist Billy Graham, whose original vision statement was: “Geared to the times, anchored to the Rock”. Whilst our style of ministry has changed, our cause remains the same. To present the timeless truth of Jesus to the emerging generation.

Our People

Churches: God’s Plan A is to reach the world through the local church, and there is no Plan B. That means we’re here to equip the local church to carry out its mission more effectively. Everything we do is with and for the local church, in order that it might bear much fruit in making disciples. See how…

Members: We have around 30 members who are part of local churches and support our aims and objectives. They meet each year to appoint the executive committee. The exec comprises our trustees and senior staff who govern the affairs of the charity and keep us focused on the mission. Join us….

Trustees: Our Trustees are volunteers who take legal responsibility for our governance. They ensure that we manage the finance well, comply with all the legal obligations of being a charity and abide by our consititution. Our trustees bring a range of skills to the organisation in Fundraising, Church Leadership, Human Resources, Charity Governance, Management, Graphic Design and Schoolswork.

The current Trustees of Cambridge and District Youth for Christ are:

Jon Edney
Celia Phipps

Our Faith

Our trustees, staff and volunteers support the Youth for Christ Statement of Faith as outlined below.

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, and in His sinless
life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power
    and glory.
  • We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is by the grace of God through
faith and the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and that regeneration by the Holy
    Spirit is absolutely essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the
Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto
the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
