Back in June, we welcomed a group of teenagers from North Carolina for two weeks of local mission!

Coming as a result of our friendship with Mike Taylor from UK-USA ministries, we invited a group of enthusiastic and energetic Christians from the USA to come and serve local churches – supporting the ongoing work with children, youth, families and seniors, and enabling the local churches to extend what they could normally do!

Although they were only with us a few a short time, they were excited to get involved and invest in the churches and people that they met. This year they were based in Barnwell and Great Shelford. The visit had an effect on one young person in particular, Josh.

As part of a mission week, the team visited local primary school to do assemblies and lessons and also ate lunch with the pupils, giving them time to hang out and chat. Josh hadn’t been to the local youth group before but, as a consequence of their connection, was invited to camp of champions – an after school sports and creative club that the team were running throughout the week. He came each day and was totally engaged in the activities and faith shaped conversation.

On the last day, he even brought in a card for one of the American team, to say thanks for being there and how much he’d loved them being around.

Youth for Christ are passionate about reaching young people through the local church and we’re really grateful for the connection with UK-USA Ministries that enabled the team to come over and give the local churches the opportunity to extend their reach and connect with new young people!

We pray that the relationships that were started that week will continue to grow and that the churches would see God at work in new ways in their communities.
